Express Jet Relocation
United/Continental Airlines, Newark Liberty International Airport, NJ
Project size : 14 Bridges
Graf & Lewent Architects designed and coordinated the relocation of United / Continental’s Express Jet operations from Terminal C to Terminal A at Newark Liberty Airport. The project was implemented in phases. Phase I involved the installation of 14 passenger boarding bridges to accommodate Continental’s Express aircraft. The work performed in several rapid-succession phases since only 2 gates could be shut down at any one time, and the window for construction was very limited. The installation required detailed coordination of support utilities, foundations and ramp equipment for the boarding bridges, as well as interior renovations and improvements to coordinate with the new boarding patterns.
