Teachers College is housed in a block-long 19th Century building. Graf & Lewent was retained to gut renovate the 1st Floor of Macy Hall to replace the original Mysak Speech and Hearing Clinic, last renovated in the 1960’s, with a state of the art facility. The 7,000 square foot renovation includes 10 sound-treated Testing Rooms, and a larger, multipurpose Diagnostic Room. Observation Areas adjacent to the Testing Rooms allow staff and family members of patients to observe the treatment activities through sound-rated one-way windows, while monitoring the proceedings with sophisticated audiovisual systems. The project also included Faculty Offices, Research Lab, Reception Area and student facilities. The project was constructed under a tight schedule over one summer, to avoid the loss of the facility during the academic year.
